DPP Platform

Digital Product Passports that fulfil EU requirements

For SMEs and companies. Guided. Compliant. Published as a real GS1 Digital Link — not a QR sticker on a landing page.

The EECC DPP Platform walks a business user through a complete Digital Product Passport and publishes it under a resolver path that scanners already understand. It is built for manufacturers, importers and distributors who must meet EU rules without standing up a large IT programme.

Mandatory from 18 February 2027

From 18 February 2027, in-scope batteries cannot be placed on the EU market without a Digital Product Passport. That covers LMT batteries (for example e-bikes and e-scooters), industrial batteries of 2 kWh and above, and EV batteries (Battery Regulation 2023/1542). The economic operator who places the battery on the market is responsible. The Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR 2024/1781) extends the same idea to later product groups.

From data to a scannable passport

  1. Enter product data: A guided form captures model, batch and serial data. Shared fields are entered once.
  2. Check completeness: Validation against the legal attribute set flags gaps before anything goes public.
  3. Publish a GS1 Digital Link: The passport is issued as /01/{GTIN} with optional serial qualifiers — a real Digital Link, not a vanity URL.
  4. Scan and share by role: Consumers see public data. Repairers, recyclers and authorities see the restricted tiers they are entitled to under Annex XIII.

What you get

  • Guided wizard:
Browser data entry with draft, submit and publish. The same validation applies to the form and the API.
  • Legal completeness:
Three-level model / batch / serial structure aligned with BattReg Annex XIII and DIN DKE SPEC 99100 — 93 attributes, including the 71 mandatory LMT fields.
  • GS1 Digital Link and QR:
QR-accessible passports under a standard Digital Link path, issued by a GS1 competence center.
  • Role-based access:
Public consumer data stays public. Restricted performance and supply-chain fields stay restricted.
  • REST API and SSO:
An OpenAPI-documented API and identity integration for teams that already have an IdP.
  • Hosted in Germany:
Operated by EECC. Imprint and privacy are the same as eecc.de. GDPR-aligned operations.

Batteries first – the same platform for every product passport

The platform was designed from the start to create many kinds of product passport – not only battery passports. Batteries are the first product group with a fixed deadline. As soon as the EU develops and publishes the standards for the next groups, we will provide the matching EU-compliant input forms and templates.

Ready now

  • LMT batteries (e-bikes, e-scooters)
  • Industrial batteries of 2 kWh and above
  • EV batteries
  • SLI starter batteries

Textiles, electronics and furniture will follow once the delegated acts and the related data standards are published. Same platform, same publication path.

Built by people who have applied GS1 standards for years

EECC is the European EPC Competence Center. Since 2004 we have applied GS1 standards to build compliant identification and traceability solutions: GTIN, GS1 Digital Link, resolver services and EPCIS 2.0. The passport platform sits on the same identifier, resolver and publication practice we use for Digital Link infrastructure.

  • GS1 Digital Link:
The code on the product is the identifier, not a marketing redirect.
  • DIN DKE SPEC 99100:
Guided entry for the battery attribute set — not a free-text product story.
  • CEN/CLC JTC 24:
Aligned with EN 18219 (identifiers), EN 18220 (data carriers) and EN 18222 (APIs).
  • GS1 company prefix:
If you already number products with GTIN, you are ready. If not, we help you obtain a prefix.

Where we stand today

We will register the Digital Product Passport with the EU. We are already testing the connection of the EU test API to our platform. Passport data is entered by the owner. That is by design: the passport contains real product data from your organisation, not text generated by an AI.
